İzmir Clock Tower
It was built in 1901 by the Grand Vizier Said Pasha. It was a gift to Abdülhamid the 2nd for his 25th anniversary of his ascending to the throne. The clock of the tower is a gift from German Emperor Wilhelm. The tower was called Hamidiye Tower at that time. During the occupation of İzmir, journalist Hasan Tahsin threw the first bullet to the invaders in front of this tower.
