The Tomb of Sultan Ahmed the 1st
It was built in 1619 in the northeast corner of the Sultan Ahmed Complex. After the death of Sultan Ahmed the 1st in 1617, the construction of the tomb was started by Sultan Mustafa the 1st and completed by Sultan Osman the 2nd in 1619. The tomb shows a distinctive architectural style from the 16th century tombs. This structure has been abandoned from the internal corridor space and the double-walled dome. A protrusion was made against the entrance. The windows that coincided with the position of Sultan Ahmed's sarcophagus were held larger than the others and thus a different appearance was obtained.
